BRAND FROM ZERO

Printiland

Built a whimsical accessories brand from zero, product, identity, site, and storefronts, and shipped it to three marketplaces

Product, brand, and storefronts built solo, from a bored afternoon with an Apple Pencil to 3,500+ units sold on Rp 0 paid media

The Setup

It started as a side project: a better Apple Pencil skin, nothing more ambitious than that. But stylus skins are a commodity category. Flat colors, marginal differentiation, and a race to the bottom on price. Nothing about the category says “I

02

The Ask

Build a brand from a blank page, product, identity, and every commercial touchpoint that follows, able to command a premium in a commodity category without outside funding or a paid media budget.

03

The Move

  • Defined the audience as “The Whimsical Explorer,” people who want their everyday tech to feel like a small act of self-expression, not just a tool.
  • Designed skins that mix real tactile textures (childhood crayon, traditional graphite pencil) with precision pattern-making, giving a purely digital accessory a physical, nostalgic feel.
  • Built the visual identity on a deliberate contrast, a vibrant playground palette against Braun-inspired minimalism, so the brand could stretch across product drops without losing coherence.
  • Owned every downstream touchpoint solo: packaging, ecommerce listings across three marketplaces, quirky key visuals for promotional broadcasts, and a step-by-step video guide so customers didn't bail at “how do I even put this on.”

The Bigger Picture

Printiland is proof that a boring category is a branding opportunity, not a ceiling. The whole P&L rests on one idea: people pay more for a product that makes them smile, and a strong voice can outperform a media budget.

Closing Insight
If your product feels more like a commodity than a brand, that's usually a positioning problem, not a product problem. Happy to dig into yours.
